My god did the end of summer 2025 sucked. Lots of things happened that tested my patience:
- So, I lost my job at the end of August. Yeah, it sucks when that happens – there’s really no sugar-coating it. IIt sucked big time! In this case, it was due to the company restructuring, which somehow made it sting a little less and a little more at the same time, you know? I was genuinely sad to lose this position because I absolutely loved what I was doing for work. It was this perfect blend of project and client management, creating content for various platforms (social media, blog posts, you name it), and diving into web marketing stuff like SEO audits, landing page optimization, and integrations. But honestly? What I preferred most was working directly with clients – there’s something really energizing about those relationships and problem-solving together. But yeah, it sucked losing it. Took me a little bit of time to recuperate from the shock of it, and just…breathe.
- I lost a cat at the beginning of September. Puce, my oldest at 17, had been dealing with health issues for the past year and a half, so her passing wasn’t exactly a shock. But still… I hoped – God, I really, truly hoped – she’d stick around just a little bit longer. Her health took a sharp turn during her last two days. It declined so rapidly that I knew I had to make that impossible decision every pet parent dreads: bringing her to the vet for euthanasia. It was one of those moments that just breaks something inside you. Death showing up at your door is never easy, but I can say this – I was there holding her little paws, kissing her soft head, and whispering to her right until her very last breath.
Two weeks later, and I’m still catching myself looking at her empty spot on the sofa. I haven’t had the heart to clean up the two places where she always liked to hang out this past year – there’s still some of her fur there, like little reminders of her presence. I miss everything about her cuddly, affectionate personality. Losing Puce marks the end of an era in the strangest way. The original quartet of cats I shared with my ex-husband are now all gone. It feels… I don’t know, surreal? Like watching time itself pass through her passing. There’s something profound about witnessing the end of a whole chapter of your life like that. - But hey, on a much brighter note – I managed to land a new job just three weeks after losing my previous one! If you’re even remotely aware of how the current job market looks like, you’ll know that’s pretty fucking miraculous! I’m still kind of in a disbelief about how everything aligned so perfectly. The role matches my skill set and interests almost too well, and finding something this good this quickly? I keep pinching myself, I was really lucky! I start this Wednesday, and I’m genuinely excited. The office is in Laval, and there will be some days where I need to be there in person – but you know what? I’m actually looking forward to it. After working from home for so long, I think having that clear separation between my personal and professional spaces is going to do wonders for my mental health. Don’t get me wrong, I still have some work-from-home days built in, but honestly? I’m not disappointed about heading back to an office environment. That being said, ask me again in six months if I still feel this optimistic about it 😛 But right now, I’m just grateful and ready for this next chapter.
- Hackfest is in lest than a month! Gaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Stress ++. LOL. Lots of communication to produce for the event, and it’s the last milage before the conference in October. But I can’t wait to see my gang in Quebec City 🙂
Now, I’ll go back to my studies, I need to finish my summer class soon!
