So, who got sick after Hackfest? 🙋 Meeeeeee! Urgh!
A whole week of sinus congestion, a stuffy nose 🤧, and terrible sleep—it was absolutely awful. Conflu was terrible! My week got completely scrapped as I turned into a somnolent couch potato, fighting off a relentless headache. But hey, at least today I’m feeling way better! Better enough to drag myself out and vote in my city’s municipal election. Civic duty: check ✔️! Of course I was stuck in the longest waiting line of all the booths available in my borough. Urghhhhh! Me and my bad luck!
Now that Hackfest is wrapped up for this year, it’s time to get my nose back in my school books. I put my studies on pause for the last two months because, honestly, juggling the job search + new job + Hackfest prep was getting intense. For my sanity’s sake, I had to hit the pause button on my course. But now I’m diving back in, and I’m hoping to wrap everything up by Christmas—just in time for the holiday vacations. Should be fun!
The MTL à Table festival has returned, and I’ve already got a couple of restaurants lined up on my hit list. My favourite festival of the year is finally here! I’ll try to book a session or two with friends, but honestly? If I have to, I’ll go solo. No way am I missing this. I’ve been skipping the last few years because of the pandemic and then budget limitations. So this year? Ain’t missing it!
Halloween is going to be bittersweet this year. It’s the first year my daughter doesn’t want to go trick-or-treating—breaking our yearly tradition with one of my best friends, Emilie. For years, we’d haunt the streets of my beautiful Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood, admiring all the decorations and collecting mountains of candy. But, alas, this year Nano has decided she feels too old for it and will be staying at her dad’s place. Booooooo! Oh well! Emilie and I will pivot to giving out candy at my place instead, wine glasses in hand. It’ll be our new Halloween tradition! And after the candy-giving duties are done, we’ll probably scavenge our way to a local bar to wreak havoc on our livers. LOL!
On another note – and I’m not saying this too loudly – but I’ve already bought my Christmas tree! It’s getting delivered in the first week of December! After missing last year’s tree decorating for lack of funds, I’m NOT missing this year’s tradition. Otherwise, my daughter will literally rip my head from my shoulders. LOL. I’m hoping having a tree will help me find a little bit of Christmas spirit this year. I usually tend to get pretty moody around the holidays, so we’ll see how I feel with my new job taking up so much of my time and energy. Fingers crossed for some festive feels!
Stay tuned for more life updates and probably more MTL à Table festival food photos!
