Mondial de la Bière 2011

We could say that yesterday was the kick-off day for the  festival season here in Montreal, and what better festival to start this season than the Mondial de la Bière! This year, the festival is being hosted at a bigger place (Place Bonaventure), promising more space to walk around and to enjoy the differents beers available the entire week-end and more places to sit down and enjoy our brew. Many complained about the lack of outdoor space (gare Windsor had a marvelous outdoor space, ideal for this festival), but after this week’s high heat on the city, people were really glad to be in a place where there was air conditioning.

I was a bit disappointed, for there was no real newcomers presenting their products this year. I did fall on Beau’s All Natural Brewing Company, an Ontarian beer brewer which made an excellent blonde beer (and their strong ale was awesome too!), but otherwise, it was the same kiosks as last year.

So, if you haven’t been to the Beer festival in a long time, it might be a good thing to go for a visit, but forget it otherwise: if you are planning of attending the event during the week-end, it will be jammed-pack! If you fear big crowd, it is not the place to go!
